To discover the purpose of Little Bellies, we first identify the most revealing stories that help us unravel the insights of why and for what this organization exists.
A need for personal and safe space for pregnant women and families:
Hannah and Jaime, the founders of Little Bellies, were living in Latin America when they found out they were expecting their first baby. At 5 months pregnant, they moved to the US and visited their OB-GYN. To their surprise, the medical care felt distant and cold. The warm and personal attention they had experienced in Venezuela from their doctor and nurses differed from the impersonal treatment in the US health system.
This led them to identify a clear necessity for pregnant women to have a human-centered and safe space to solve their doubts, handle their fears and anxiety of the uncertainty of being pregnant, and receive a caring follow-up throughout their pregnancy to feel calm.
Impacting lives:
The stories that made them feel more proud are about the positive impact they have on the lives of their clients. From diagnosing hereditary issues that can save babies lives, to helping future mothers have more peace of mind from all the worries they usually have, their work is a constant reminder of the fragility of life and the joy of new beginnings
Creates a family bonding opportunity:
For Little Bellies, one of their main priorities is to be a place for the whole family. They love watching future fathers and big brothers and sisters see their babies and feel the connection with them for the first time, creating an unforgettable bonding experience with the new member of the family.
The purpose of Little Bellies is:
To pamper pregnant women, to welcome a new life.
Why did we choose these words?
Pamper: the verb represents everything you do in Little Bellies. It talks about going the extra mile to care for them in this important stage of their life. What LB seeks to achieve is for women to feel pampered, cared for, that they have arrived to their paradise, to their own oasis where they can have a moment for themselves, their peace of mind, and can feel safe and cared for.
Pregnant women: this is your people. Little Bellies refers to the babies, but pregnant women expand it to care also for their mental health, and their entire bodies. This is their spa.
Welcome: welcome can be used as a verb to talk about embracing a new reality, and create a bond between family members and the baby. Welcome also talks about the experience you want to create: a place for every family member to feel they can be there, as opposed to clinics and hospitals where they are not allowed.
A new life: It can have a double meaning. First, we can never forget that Little Bellies is part of an industry that brings new life into the world. And second, a baby also brings changes into the dynamics of the family, it's a new life they will have.
